The words “bitch,” “ass,” and “bastard” can be heard in the dialogue. Tobacco Use: One scene depicts The Penguin smoking a cigar.Īlcohol Reference: There are many references to alcohol, like “She got a little drunk and killed her classmates” and “I'd give anything for a nice cold beer right now.” Suggestive Themes: Over the course of the game, some women wear skintight outfits that expose sizable amounts of cleavage one background sign depicts the neon silhouette of a woman and the words “Live Nude.” The dialogue also has some suggestive references like “The anger, the frustration, the hints of repressed sexual tension” and "Sure could go for some porn right now." Hugo Strange has a spot of blood on him after he is impaled by Ra's al Ghul's sword in a cutscene Ghul jumps off of a building, stabs himself, and gets imapled by a spiked fence soonafter, although there is no blood that I remember in this part.īlood: Some areas have blood stained on the floor and furniture other cutscenes show spots of blood on wounded characters, including Hugo Strange after he is impaled by Ra's al Ghul's sword.
In some parts, players have to solve puzzles or use stealth to knock out hostiles and free hostages if the player fails the challenge, the hostage gets killed. The intense fights are highlighted by screams of agony, punching sound effects, realistic gunfire, and slow-mo effects.
Violence: The player controls Batman as he explores Arkham City, a town populated by serial killers and prisoners, and infiltrate hideouts, punching and kicking sociopathic criminals in melee-style battles, using many gadgets like explosive gel, smoke pellets, and his grapple gun to defend himself against firearm-toting gangsters and bad guys. There's only one complaint that I have which is crashing on the computer version, the first part of the Catwoman and Robin DLCs used to crash after the first cutscene but I changed a few graphics options and maybe a few other things in the latter's case, that did the trick but it's still an issue. The boss battles, plot, and gameplay are top-notch and the only things that Knight really beats it at are graphics and the fighting mechanics.
When I first started playing this game I was sucked into it and beat the campaign in a little over a day, I've barely played it since but the open-world and side-quests leave you with content to go back to (that isn't scarred by repetitive Batmobile missions). I know this is a super 2012 thing to say but this is hands-down the best Batman game and superhero game as a whole, there are elements of Arkham Knight I prefer but overall this and Asylum are better.
